Buy Postage Stamps Online Is Easy TodayFor years, people bought their stamps the same way they got just about anything else in their lives. They went to the appropriate sales office, in this case, their local United States Post Office, and bought them. They could get a single stamp, a coil, a sheet, or buy them in booklets. About the closest to high-tech they had was a coin operated stamp machine. Yet, like everything else in this modern world of ours, the postal service has moved into the Twenty-first Century. Now, stamps can be purchased from a website. And, not just the U.S. Postal Service's website; the USPS has contracted with a number of approved vendors to allow them to sell postage: Click-N-Ship, eBay, Stamps.com and Pitney Bowes Inc, to name only a few.
With most of these sites, in order to send a package, a scale is needed, and often some kind of software has to be downloaded to the user's computer. But, this is not a problem. Virtually all of the websites will mail a free scale out when a person sets up an account, and the software is free as well. In the case of a letter, the process is incredibly easy. First, as previously stated, it is customary for a user to create an account with a password. Next, the number and denomination of stamps is selected. The variety is quite varied. As an example, the USPS website offers first class stamps, coils of stamps, priority mail, express mail, pre-paid cards and envelopes. They have first day covers, commemorative panels, uncut press sheets, and countless other supplies: mugs, pins, stuffed animals, books, games etc. Once the selection is made, it is much like any other online shopping. The user puts the items in their "cart", selects the quantity and then heads for the "checkout." Payment can be made via a credit card, a paypal account or other approved means. With some websites, a payment method is setup when the account is established. After that, it is a matter of getting the actual stamps. Some websites will overnight them via snail mail. Just a touch of irony in that: using the Internet (something known for reducing amount of real mail) to order stamps for snail mail, and then getting them sent via the same snail mail. With other websites, the stamps can be downloaded to the user's computer and they just print them out. |
